Parent Letter about Closure and COVID-19

March 12, 2020

Dear LISA Academy West Middle School Parents/Guardians,

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and at the direction of the Arkansas Department of Education, all schools in Pulaski, Saline, Grant and Jefferson counties will be closing beginning Friday, March 13th through March 29th.  LISA Academy schools in Little Rock, North Little Rock and Sherwood are included in this directive from ADE.

This closure includes six scheduled school days and the already scheduled Spring Break. The six days of school closure will be treated as Alternative Methods of Instruction days (AMI).  We will post information on our school website with guidance for online learning for students.  Materials will also be sent home with students who do not have access to technology at home.

Further information will be posted on school websites as it becomes available.  In the meantime please check the school website frequently and stay informed to keep your family safe.

To minimize risk we ask that you follow these guidelines:

- Remind your students to WASH HANDS thoroughly and frequently!
- Remind your students to cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or the inside of their elbow.
- Remind students to avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Remind students to avoid close contact with anyone who is sick, and to avoid any unnecessary close contact with others in general.

Our district will be conducting thorough sanitizing of all buildings during this closure period in an effort to ensure the safest possible environment when students return.  If we all work together, we can better mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on our schools and community.  As always, if you have questions or concerns, please contact us.

Peace,
Dr. Kevin K. Durand
